820-00163 No Caps lock light - lets solve this.

On the bench I have an otherwise pristine 820-00163 logic board. The original issue was the KB needed to be replaced. I replaced the KB, all of the keys work but the CAPS lock light does not. The customer REALLY wants the light to work, so before you tell me to tell them to just live with it...

Those reported voltages were measured both before the re-soldering and after by the way.

    820-3332 - Chime, No Image

I got on the table an 820-3332 that draws 1.4 amps, has chime and MS light, but fans ramp up to max RPM and backlight comes on immediately when laptop is powered on. This board has clear signs of previous work on Q9706, U8900 and U5550. There was flux all around U8900 and U5550 and after I...

820-00138 No power after short on J4801

I have an 820-00138 that had been damaged by liquid on J4801. Pins 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 were completely melted away so I removed the connector and dug and scraped until the short was gone. I tried to power on board and it is at 20mA and Missing PP5V_S4. I measured it and it is not short, actually it...

    820-00840 PPBUS_G3H Short.

Did you read my post? I didn’t say anything about the fact that I injected voltage. I measured for shorts...using resistance mode with the power off.

    820-00840 PPBUS_G3H Short.

I have on the bench a liquid damaged 820-00840 that had cola spilled on it. the 2 areas that were hit were U7650 and U7220. both PPBUS_G3H and PPBUS_G3H_CPU are 0.8 ohms to ground. Should I even bother injecting 1V, or should I kiss this one goodnight? I did replace U7650, C7651, R7865, C7689...

    820-3332 GPU Kernel Panic

No, I only resoldered U8900 on the first one. I guess I could do the other two as well.

    820-3332 GPU Kernel Panic

I'm assuming since I still get PPVCORE_S0_GFX_PH1 & PH2 even when screen goes black that the GPU is faulty. On the second 820-3332 when the screen goes black, GPU VCORE drops to 0V, so I would think that is U8900. Am I correct in my thinking?
