It looks like maybe the battery was just too low. I manually charged the battery with a bench supply to about 50%. I powered on the machine and saw it was at the activation, so I went through there, then was able to complete the installation of macOS. It still is not charging though, which is...
This MacBook is giving me a fit :( Connected it to the host mac, entered DFU in apple configurator no problem, chose restore, and the progress bar went across on the host mac to step 4 "install", which it went about half way across. On the macbook, the progress bar went across, then was all...
20.5v .004a. Machine powers up and logs into macOS, but battery not charging and very low. Also, I get no lights on the Chipmunk tester. Placed in DFU for revive, but did not solve the problem. Thoughts?
**UPDATE** That's weird.. now it is 5.19v .442a
I've got an A2779 here with minor liquid damage, but the lid angle sensor is in awful condition and I'd like to replace it. Mobile Sentrix sells one but I'm wondering if I can replace it by itself, or of I would have to replace the panel as well, because they are paired?
OK, to clarify, the machine doesn't actually power on, what I meant was that if you open the screen, it shows the Red battery icon in the center.
To add to this, the device has been sitting for some time, battery disconnected when I first posted this thread. After reading your response, I then...
This is A2141, board 820-01700-A. Device shows battery icon(indicating critical low battery) but USBc is taking 20V 0A. I have a dead short to ground on PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG(measured at C7502:1), but injecting 1v is not pulling any current. Next steps?
SON OF A BISCUIT!!!!! MAN! How the hell did I miss that when I was cleaning the board? There was dried soda on many areas and I spent a while cleaning it, but when I put UP800 under the scope, BOOM, soda was there. Is that a BGA package? Can I just remove it, clean up, and put it back?
I don't have a known good display :( I do have pp1v8, but I'll have to pull the board to check for pp3v8, as it's on the other side of the board. I looked extremely closely at the display and cleaned it off. I can confirm that there IS picture on the display, just no backlight.
This device is A2442, board 820-02098-A and came in with no power, liquid damage. I repaired the liquid damage and the machine powers on with chime but no internal display. External display is working.
voltage at C8315 is 0.150v and slowly rises. I went to check a second time and make a video and now it was higher voltage.

You mentioned AVREF. Did you mean H7 MPMU_VREF_ADC from the picture I posted, or are you referring to UE010:8, PP2V5_S2SW_EADC1_AVREF?
