820-00928 Appears to be turning on. CPU & GPU. DFU not recognized.

appears to star at 1v and then it drops to 0.9 relatively fast PPVCC_CPU_PH1 0.9V PPVCC_CPU_PH2 0.9V Is 0.9 too high?

820-00928 Appears to be turning on. CPU & GPU. DFU not recognized.

Hi. I have a 820-00928 that appears to be turning on but there is no image or sound. No image via thunderbolt/ HDMI either. I tried DFU but I get a "thunderbolt device not recognized" message. CPU & GPU is getting hot. 20v on USB-C meter. I'm not sure what to measure or look for as it...

    820-02016 5V .450A liquid spill on CD32. Pulsating PMU U7700

Alright. I will try to source some CD3217s Are the thunderbolt chips in any way part of the power up sequence or is it only for data?

    820-02016 5V .450A liquid spill on CD32. Pulsating PMU U7700

"Which was the culprit?" I believe it was a short under one of the CD32s. I found the short with diode mode and it got restored to OBDATA values after a reflow with flux. Found one deviation on one of CD32 LDOs PP3V3_S2SW_USBC1 LDO CAP on one of the CD32s read .352 VS .462 from OBDATA Is...

    820-02016 5V .450A liquid spill on CD32. Pulsating PMU U7700

I have A2337 with liquid spillage on the CD32s and UF400/500 chips. One of the CD32s had a short on I2C_UPC0_ATCRTMR0_SCL however that is now restored. I now get 5V on USB-C and the device is cycling up to .450mah. The thermal cam indicates rapid heat pulsations on U7700, however there is no...

A2485 Not charging. Fan spin. minor liquid damage on charge FETs

Tiny spec of liquid damage spotted around UD102/50 hidden under the CPU tape. I repaired the damaged spot and that restored the charging circuit back to normal. Many thanks to you, 2informaticos!

A2485 Not charging. Fan spin. minor liquid damage on charge FETs

I'm pretty sure it only connects one way. The "tape tab handles" are facing upwards. Battery screw is not connected in this image, but it was during testing.

A2485 Not charging. Fan spin. minor liquid damage on charge FETs

Battery cable has been checked in continuity mode and appears to be working. I dont have a spare cable unfortunately. I also measured voltage and continuity on the PCB side on the battery as well. Q5265 Battery & Charger connected: pin 5 11-11.99V pin 1-3 11.98V pin 4 CHGR_BGATE 2.6V / 3V...

Hear me out for a sec...

I'm definitively not the guy for writing the code for a project. I have some basic Arduino projects under my belt, however this is going to require something far more advanced to create. It just happens that the engineer's brother is a really talented programmer, and we all thought it would be...

A2485 Not charging. Fan spin. minor liquid damage on charge FETs

I have a A2485 that got a tiny streak of liquid damage on the on the FETs for charging the battery. Q5232 and Q5233. (Picture provided) Q5233 - CHGR_GATE_Q2 appeared to be shorted to GND. 0.00 in Diode mode. I cleaned pin 1-4 with some flux and solder and that appeared to relieve the short. D...

Hear me out for a sec...

I had the exact same conversation with my engineer friend some time ago. It would be amazing if somehow a mobo could be put in a jig and run/probe with boardview data. I offered my 3D printer for the project, but I doubt we will ever get anything done past the dreaming stage 😅

    820-01700. No Image. L8504 Blown.

I have a water damaged 820-01700 that I managed to restore back to 20V with boot chime however there is no image and the L8504 inductor close by the screen is blown. I tried replacing it but without any luck. LCD cable also replaced. Boot sound, charger sound, key press to voice works so I'm...

    820-00165 3V instead of 3.3V on PPVRTC_G3H. DEAD CPU?

Replacing the resistors restored voltages and I now have a booting device! I had already replaced the U7501 and measured DIODE mode up against OBDATA and everything checked out. I would never have been able to fix this board without your guidance. Thank you! 2informaticos!

    820-00165 3V instead of 3.3V on PPVRTC_G3H. DEAD CPU?

Oh I see. I struggle to see when a signal is inbound or outbound on the schematics :S 3V3_S5 2.908V PP3V3_SUS 2.90V Seems like all voltages are slightly off.
