I have a 820-2610-A here which came in for GMUX repair (showed green artefacts definitely coming from GMUX).
After reflowing GMUX (Yes, we did remove _all_ glue), the artefacts were gone but the fans ran on full speed, which they did not before reflowing the GMUX.
ASD shows 9 errors (see the attached picture) so we checked the sensor part. U5500 was damaged so we replaced that. Also checked all rails from and to the sensors, but as it shows errors from 9 sensors that are controlled by different parts, we are assuming it is something more central.
So we pulled the SMC, reballed it and soldered it back in. Still the same.
So we replaced the SMC from a donor board. Still the same.
We checked all rails between the SMC and around the sensors but still nothing.
Now we had to return the board to the customer but he is really angry, as now the fans run on full speed all the time. Rest of the machine works flawlessly.
Any ideas what we might have missed?
