820-2915 death no green light

hello friends, i am just working on that board, no watermarks to see but could be cleaned, that man bought it in ebay.


i figured out

PP3V42_G3H is there

SMC_BC_ACOK 0V

resistance c7020 c7050 is like expected

acin pin3 is 0V

replaced u7000

got now green light no fanspin


PPBUS_G3H is 12.22V, so i think a not working smc

replaced the smc i got now PPBUS_G3H 12.55V should be ok, still no fan spin

no PP3V3_S5

measured short to gnd

pulled l7260 out

short to gnd on pin 2

injecting now 3.3V on pin 2

voltage breaks down to 2.4V and coming 3.2A more ampere on that labor power unit not possible

nothing is warm on the board

need some help how to diagnostic now best way

There is no way to find that short. Use your lips to feel the board, at 3.2A something must warm up.
Also there are already many failures on this board that suggest a power surge/spike. Looks like extensive damage everywhere. This will be a time waster board, but if you have nothing else to do go ahead.
I suspect the PCH at this point

:) a time waster board. good name for that. May first guess was PCH as well. So after replacing is still not now needfull to replace the bios, on a later point only isnt it?

go to replace that now, after thate i will report back.
