820-3209-A slow after liquid spil

Hi there,

This board had water damage on it. Very slight one. We actually did not detect any corrosion on the mobo but just in case we put it in ultrasonic machine and dry it.
After first boot, OS is running very slow.
ASD test shows all pass. All sensors show normal reading.
Disconnected everything unnecessary from the board to eliminate possible component problems.
Stuck. Please advice how to proceed.

Go into ASD and see what all the sensors are actually reading. Try a known good A1405 battery too. Did you run EFI version of ASD?

When i see high cpu usage like that and it passes both ASD EFI and ASD OS, i've found that there is an issues with the boot rom firmware/ smc firmware. Normally after downloading these from Apples website and running them problem goes away.

I believe the ASD for this model includes the "chipset" test which confirms a working ME. Can never hurt to try and force update the EFI and SMC.

The only issue with doing these updates is that they want you to run them from OS X 10.7 Lion for one of them and OS X 10.9 mavericks for the other. just recently had 2 machines do this on me after board repare. so maybe its a too much heat issue?

Holy macaroni. New battery solved it. WTF?! I don't understand why OS was running slow without the battery? Brain explosion! Please debunk. Thanks Duke.

Uhm you sure this was an original A1405 battery? This problem usually happens when A1377 battery is used in 2011 model. A1377 is missing some temp sensors.

Yes absolutely. It says A1405 on the battery, looks original and customer claims she never repaired her macbook. But what I do not understand is why was the system running slow without the battery just on the charger? Apple just never seizes to surprise me :D
