I'm surprised that they haven't tied LCD/battery on MacBooks to the board yet.
It can very easily be done. Serial number of LCD is already in the ROM so a simple software update could render all MacBooks with replaced LCDs useless.
Another sign the repair industry is dying and/or getting much more complicated.
