last year we figured after a gpu replacement (ordered from Duke) that we have the same issue, than we had to reflow the VRAM chips, it sorted it out, than after that by default we started to reflow VRAM chips, and guess what, literally all of them since was fixed like that, no gpu reflow or replacement, only vram.
There was one time it was not fixed after vram reflow, then to we reflowed the gpu and cpu, still the same issue, and guess what, the vrams had to be reballed, that fixed too.

I think that was it for the 2011 gpu replacements.

Uhm, of course after reflowing the VRAM it will work again. You just heated up the GPU so it will work again for 3-6 months or so. Do you really think that Apple and the rest of the world is replacing the GPU for nothing?
I do 15-20 of these a week so I kind of know what I'm talking about here.

If a board comes back after a GPU replacement (<10%) then I reflow the VRAM. Most of them come back again after that and then the issue is inside the board traces. In case of a 6750 or 6770 I can attempt a downgrade to a 6490 GPU but if that still fails it is the end of the line for the board.

we happen to replace many gpu`s only to find that the issue is not sorted out, until the vram is reflowed, or reballed. We had some reflowed or replaced gpu coming back and only sorted by the vram.

So far none came back which was only vram reflowed, and we just passed 6 months for the first one. And the same thing is with the 17 incher.

You must be doing something wrong that messes with the VRAM then. Also I have 1000+ 2914/2915 boards out there that were fixed by me so I kind of have a good pool to take statistics from....
