[SOLVED]820-3332-A water damage, works except auto powers on when magsafe connects

Hi there
I have an 820-3332-A here that is pretty much fully functional except it auto powers on when magsafe connects. Any ideas what might be the cause of this? Seems to be a common fault related to battery. apart from the battery draining fast and showing a red battery icon at about 20% I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the battery

What does battery status indicate? Did you do a PRAM reset and powered the machine down from OSX?

Shows it's charging when connected as it should. Battery health shows about 700 cycles, battery health "good"

Sorry, forgot to type, yes tried that, all the same. tried different combinations of shutting down restarting. battery disconnect etc.

Is time and date lost after disconnecting AC and leaving it for a while. Of course do not disconnect battery.
Does it power up from just the battery without AC?

No date and time stays, Yes powers up. I just gave it a full charge, seems fine now. Perhaps when the battery % is low, It thinks the battery is not connected at all and auto powers like it does when the battery is disconnected.

So I'm going to assume this is a battery issue
