  • 820-3476 Doesn't sense battery.

    Unfortunately no history, customer bought the laptop cheap thinking he could just swap out the battery.

    If I unplug the power it tells me the battery is low and it will sleep soon. Coconut doesn't see the battery at all.

    Considering it technically can run off the battery, I'm looking at the data lines.

    D7050::1 = 3v08 - 3v3
    D7050::2 = 2.189

    R7050 = ok.
    R7060 = ok.
    R7150 = ok.

    C7050 = ::1 2v2

    Bad ISL or SMC.

      How can I test for this?

        You can't. Start with the ISL and pray, but count on a dead SMC too.

          Orange light and no fan spin with the new ISL. :/

            Well then you screwed it up. Check soldering and or replace again.

              Inspect your soldering job, it was working before replacement so....

                I redid the soldering and all looks okay.

                There is no draw now though. The adapter is only giving 0.5v.

                All fuses look okay. I haven't seen this before, any suggestions?

                  Soldering can be fine, but the chip is dead. Redo the whole thing.

                    Do you know if an ISL from an 820-3462 will work on that 820-3476 board?

                      yes, as long as it says ISL6259AHRTZ on it. and agreed with duke & aprendiz that this must be fucked up soldering or something else knoccked off as it was working before.

                        Thanks, I'll swap it shortly.

                        Soldering the first time round a bit rough, but the second time was pretty solid. ISL came off a donor board though so I'll try one I know worked before looking further.
                        Thanks again.

                          Swapped it out again, soldering is definitely ok this time (no really, I swear).

                          What does it mean when there is only 0.470v on PP18v_DCIN_FUSE?

                            R7012 is reading 61k and should be 1k...

                              R7012 is supposed to be 68K, so 61K in circuit is 99% probably fine.

                              Looks like adapter is shutting down or not turning on. Do you have a fake adapter to test with?
