Hi.

I have this A1466 board that doesn't seem to have any liquid damage. This computer (on battery only) turns on and boots, but only will stay on for about a minute before it crashes. I have tried multiple batteries.

The same computer will turn on and boot and STAY on if it plugged into charger.

PPBUS while on battery stays steady 7.95V during and after the crash.

Thanks!

ALSO - I think customer using chinese charger.

Tried a for sure known good battery from a working machine? Could be a current sensing issue or even a charge fet issue. If for sure tried working battery, check resistance between pins 17/18 and 27/28 of the ISL6259.

Thanks for the reponses.

Recognizes and charges battery

I have tried 3 different batteries.

1 new and two from a 2015 Macbook Air

pins 17/18 - 3 Ohm

pins 27/28- 20 Ohm

Changed ISL.

Reflowed SMC just in case there was some liquid from humidity or something

Same result.

Thanks!

This happens only starting on battery alone?
Still same thing if you start with charger + battery and remove the charger?
After crash, battery percentage (reported by OSX) is the same, or dropped a lot?
Be sure R7006 has correct value.

This happens when only starting battery alone.

I have had it plugged in next to me for a while listen to youtube ( Battery and Charger)

I just unplugged it from the charger and it crashed within 30 Secs.

Battery was fully charged when it crashed and still is fully charged in OS X.

r7006 - 5 ohm

Did you start in SMC bypass with charger and battery?
Remove charger after starts and see if turns off again on battery only.
Fan should start at maxim; if not, you are not in SMC bypass...

Run ASD on charger + battery.
Set On Error to Continue and uncheck HDD and memory test.
Should be some SMC sensor error.

Hi.

I had gone ahead and replaced the SMC before I saw your reply. Everything seems good now!

Thanks for your time!
