I am having some issues doing these (guessing on the terminology please correct me) through-hole flex cable to PCB joints like those found on an ipad mini charge port or ipad pro display cable. I looked in my IPC 7711,7721 book and didn't see any joints like this so I was wondering, 1. What is the correct term for this joint? 2. What is the correct procedure for soldiering these? (especially proper alignment)

tin the pads, make layer of flux, and use some microtweezers to solder each one. You'll see the solder come through the hole and it will flatten and you're good.
