  • 820-2850 mux replacements?

Does anyone know of a source for the mux replacement chips for the 820-2850 boards?

another 2850 board. they come with programming. This is not like a GPU where it is a chip defect. You can reflow to fix, always works for me.

ill try the reflow. i seem to have a high failure rate with these in the 2010-2011 mbp boards, which i know is a huge problem for them. thanks for the help.

Clean the edge bonding really well, under the chip. Inspect closely and if all is removed a reflow should fix the issue. If you fuck up, pull and reball, no need for another chip.

reballing those suck. 0.2-0.25mm solder balls. thanks for the advise.

Not to derail the thread, but: what are the failure symptoms on the 2010 board for mux issues versus GPU issues? In other words, how would one rule out the mux and determine the fault is the GPU? Is it as simple as, "if problem persists after reflowing mux, then it's GPU"? Assume tantalum capacitor has been replaced already.

MUX issue can range from "noise" in the picture to flickering/no LCD at all. The system will not crash!
