Mac Pro 2013 - Fan not working. Found that the interposer cable between the fan/wifi part and the i/o board was burnt. Traced back to the reverse of the i/o board (the connector in the picture is the i/o interposer connector) and can see a burnt component. I'm suspecting its a resistor but no...
Yes i know that its normally the U8900 causing problem but its not in this case. This board has been seriously fucked with (GPU replaced, badly) so want to see if i can run it on intel only.
I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out how to bypass this in hardware (similar to the GMux bypass...
ISL looks fine. 4ohm and 20.4ohm on the readings.
Do get pulses at the big coils PP1V5, PP5_S3 etc. Nothing on CPU ones.
No change in SMC bypass mode.
Wanted to see if it was the S3 or the S0 causing the issue. Removed Q7860. With Q7860 removed PP5V_S3 is 5v.
Suspected Q7860, replaced it...
Both look and measure ok (180K and 150k).
On pin 2 (input) i get a totally steady 12.56v
On pin 1 (both, seperatley) I get 12.33v, which jumps (very quick change on multimeter - decimal point jumps about with fan pulse)
Minor liquid damage.
Fan spins for a couple of seconds then repeats.
PP5V_S3 jumps from 0.2 to something as fan goes on and off
PP5V_S0 jumps from 0.6 to something as fan goes on and off.
Cannot see anything on either of these lines that is suspicious.
Diode mode PP5V_S3 0.430
Diode mode...
Made it back to the top of the pile, went through everything again. Noticed that FL8303 was chipped replaced it and it now works. Thanks for your help.
Yes whole new assembly. Also tried new LVDS/edp cable on the old screen.
Tried with phone torch and mircoscope LED ring. Cannot see anything.
PWM does not change with brightness keys.
If both internal and external displays attached i get the Apple logo / ALT key screens on the external (as if...
Seems like this has a much similar eDP/LVDS area to the 820-00163 which i do have boardview / donor for.
With LCD attached and machine powered i do get
(pin 5) PP3V3_S0_EDP_SW = 3.3v
(pin 8 ) LCD_BKLT_PWM_R = 2.4v
(pin 9) LCD_HPD_CONN = 3.3v
(pins 28-30) PP5VR3V3_SW_LCD = 5v.
comparing all...
My apologies that sentence was not clear.
PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT is 0v when machine running with LCD attached.
diode mode (LCD attached) 1.195
diode mode (LCD NOT attached) same 1.195
