Machine came in originally dead, visually located C7253 had burned up ( no track damage ) and replaced by hand-soldering replacement on ( no hot air ). Worked fine for a couple of days but when I went to perform the packing-exit-check to dispatch it no longer booted. Machine now will take 20V...

All good with U4760, rails and signals being transferred one side to the other. Might have to put this aside for a bit and look at it with fresh eyes again later.

0V on CPU core ( 1R50 ). PLT_RST_L going to U2072 doesn't appear to go high. I also lose CPUCORE_PROCHOT_R_L out of U7100:46, it's there for a few seconds ( 20V 800mA->600mA ) and then is asserted low (0V).

UPDATE: U5870 had corrosion on it, replaced, got my 3V0 RTC PLATFORM_L etc all back and get all the way to ALL_SYS_PWR_GOOD, PM_PCH_PWROK and PM_PCHSYS_PWROK and everything "online" but it still doesn't boot. Still ramping the fans too. 1am, time to put it aside and try again tomorrow.

All other LDOs present, LDO_RTC @ 1V5. LDO_0/1/2_IN also present, likewise VIN_RTC_*

3rd tech looking at this machine. LD on U9801, U9850 (GPU MUX related) - replaced LD on U7370 - replaced LD on U1950 - replaced So far nothing has resolve the primary issue where the machine will fire up to 20V, spike 800mA for a moment, then reduce to 600mA constant and run the fans from...

For the purpose of differential testing of a board here; does the A2289 / A2251 trackpad have electrical compatibility to any other models like the A1989 or A2159 ? Regards, Paul.

... and that was the penny-drop moment. After I pulled the BIOS off the dead board, checked its SN, lo behold, it's a W8012... 11 byte SN. Explains a lot of things. Thank you. This task is now complete.

That makes things all the more curious. I'm wondering if the bottom plate that was fitted is in fact the incorrect one for the chassis/machine that was supplied. Unfortunately the mainboard was dead (PCH) as such I was not able to boot to confirm the SN. Just realised now I can take the chip...

Right, this is where I'm runnning in to an issue. The supplied BIOS has room for 11 character SN, where's the SN I have for this machine is 12 characters; so where do I factor in the extra byte? I can expand the whole section of the file and removing two of the zero-bytes immediately following...

Thanks. I don't have the Medusa. I still do it the long way, removing the chip, reflashing and resoldering; which at least works for all the boards.

Ah, small world there. Hope the new releases of FlexBV are helping you adjust colours more to your liking, especially now with the colour adjustable parts ability. Did you get 32kHz on pin 12 of U1900 ? Is the corrosion seemingly from liquid ingress or more just that typical surface corrosion...
