820-02655-05 Waterdamage

Hi,

i have an 820-02655-05 with an water damage but no obvious damage. If i attach it to the power supply, it draws 5V and 0,001A jumps after 1sec to 5V 0.13A and then immediately restarts.

I already checked PPBUS_AON, 3V8_AON an the CD3217. Alle function normal.

Can you help me solve the problem? Thanks in advance!

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Which area has been affected by liquid?

Remove F5200/1 and see if power meter still restarts.

Almost everything. What is the F5200/1? I cant find it in the schematic. After removing this fuse, the macbook is still restarting. The fuses on the top also look burned but the values are normal with 0.48V in Diode Mode. Is there are program for macbooks like zxw for phones where it is possible to see the right diode mode value. Thanks in advance. IMG_3595 Large.jpegIMG_3596 Large.jpegIMG_3594 Large.jpeg

I replaced them with new ones and its restarting again. Should i remove them again and then insert power on the line and look where heat appears?

I meant to check voltage on both sides of mentioned "W" fuses; both removed, of course.
I expect to get 12.3V one side (not on PPBUS_AON).

OK, so the input circuitry is good.

What is diode mode to ground on the side without voltage?
Chreck it on all big coils also.
Don't forget LN4/980...

In Diode Mode to ground its 0.5 on the side without voltage.
LH900 = 0.43V
LG800/801 =0.45V
LN980, LN930, LN920, LN921 = OL
L5230 = 0V
L9500, L9620, L9400, L9420, L9600 = 0.095 V
LT000 = 0.4V
L5840, L5800, L5820 = 0.38V
LC260 = 0.4V
LN480 = 0.31V
LN420/21 =0,36V
LN430 = 0.279 V
LF800 = 0.31V
LP800 = 0.4V

Don't write end "V" on diode mode readings; avoid any confusion with voltage checking.
The voltage you've read there is caused by current injected by multimeter (diode mode scale) into MLB; is not a voltage generated by MLB itself!

"L5230 = 0V"
Does this mean pure short (0.000)?

You've probably got "OL" readings measuring with black probe grounded; connect ALWAYS red probe on ground!

Now check if you have any short (or very low reading) between PPBUS_AON and any coil with similar reading to ground from above.

BTW, only LN480 and LN980 have connections (through corresponding power chips) to PPBUS_AON line.
Other coils from SSD areas don't import for these checkings.

Alright.

L5230 = 0.5
LN480 = 0.32
LN980 is OL because it isnt soldered in

The other values are all normal expect L9500, L9620, L9400, L9420, L9600 = 0.095 i would say.

So you don't get low reading between any coil and PPBUS_AON.
You can resolder the main fuses.

A working board can help to compare all the readings.

Now check diode mode to ground on all small coils around both PMUs (U8100 & U7700).

Which areas look affected by liquid?
