A2681 Battery reports charging but stays at 1% after screen replacement. Won't turn on without USBC.

Hi again.
I replaced a display assembly on a A2681 with an aftermarket assembly.
The replacement assembly included the lid sensor on the right hand hinge.

However the unit will not turn on unless USBC power is applied.
When it boots OSX, and I login, the system reports the battery at 1% and not charging.
If I unplug it, it immediately turns off.

Within System information - Power, I can see use the remaining capacity and serial number of the battery OK.

It is not the battery sense resistor near the display connectors - it looks fine, and from memory, the battery would not be detected at all if the resistor is missing.
I always make sure the battery is disconnected prior to plugging or unplugging cables.

Should I transfer the existing lid sensor cable to the new display?

Any help greatly appreciated.
Josh

New lid sensor can be automatically calibrated by macOS Tahoe.
However it should not be involved in the battery issue.

Just for test, short to ground SYS_DETECT_L line.

Hi again 2informaticos, and thanks for your help once again.

I shorted to ground the SYS_DETECT_L line as you suggested, and it now indicates that the battery is 12%, and is charging higher, and also runs on battery alone.
I left it charging overnight and it charged to 100%.

It is now turning on and running on battery.
I've run it down a bit and then reapplied power and it continues to charge.

Looks like that single short to ground of the SYS_DETECT_L line may have fixed it?
Buggered if I know how though.
Thanks, so much 2informaticos, you saved me, once again. :)
