Changed the U7100 twice more, finally got ppbus. So does the GPU though. I swear I checked every coil to ppbus fuse, maybe missed it. Good riddance honestly, I have another one with the same specs i've been holding on to, can finally sell it.
Thanks 2.
Thank you. Is AMON generated by the ISL?
I did indeed check directly between chip pins, unpowered.
It does not seem to start in SMC bypass mode. I keep power button down for 5 sec, plug in, keep holding for another 10 seconds. Current draw is up .01 from .02 to .03 but no other activity.
No corrosion found, though I did find some crusty milk like stuff near ssd connector. DC jack has obvious carbon scoring. Replaced, now get amber light but only pulling .2A on 18.5V supply. Same on 85W genuine known good adapter.
Found PPDCIN not getting past dual Q7180. AGATE voltage on...
Oh no! I totally soldered R7225! Even scraped the trace and put it sideways, since the factory pad was vanished, lost to oxidation and isopropyl! I killed it hard core didn't I? I knew to not put anything there; I know what nostuff means, but it's sure as shit soldered right there on my board...
Possibly unimportant: Came in working. Was shutting down on login. I thought it was OS, so wiped and reinstalled. Reinstalled fine, made user, and it shuts down when about to show desktop. Worked fine in Safe Boot. Weird. Ended up buying mac from customer so she could get a new one and get...
Yeah, I don't have access to Apple's pairing device, so I told the customer touchID might be gone.
Tried another touchID button, it worked. I took the original button out, saw corrosion around the 4 contacts, set the hot air to 350 C and kept it there for about a minute, then removed the...
Came in for no power, was at another shop, looks washed and not rinsed. No visible corrosion. Unknown if water damaged but likely given white chalky film around every solder joint and 100% pink moisture indicators.
Disassembled for initial test, gets 20V, draws boot amperage. partially...
Yep that did it. I knew I had to, I think I just needed a push, thanks 2 and piernov. I only melted the fan connector flap a bit! Another layer of kapton tape might have helped that.
brilliant! already removed j9500, going to continuity test various lines with it off. found hidden corrosion under pad for onewire. thanks both of you. I think I'll be able to get the rest.
I just hate doing these connectors. I usually remove the camera connector just to give myself more...
Known good I/O Board/flex cable. Damage to camera connector cleaned up so I suspect the I/O socket to blame, but no visible corrosion. Like none at all. :( Even removed brass cover.
I hate replacing the damn I/O sockets.
SMC_LID goes to high when flex disconnected, then to 1.34 when it's...
For shops:
Qualified Vendor Lists would be an absolute joy. Vendors that maintain high standards and availability of parts are essential. Beets does the most reliable operation on the west coast but they don't stock EVERYTHING, ifixit to some degree as well for consumables, and obv your shop...
L/C Blocks (the 4 present and the 1 unpopulated) groupings seem fine. All pass 1.05.
There's something with that PCH switch U8005. I checked my solder job, cleaned and repopulated etc and it stayed on again. Then it broke again. Then i flipped the board and it stayed on again. Think i'm...
Kudos for paying attention. I forgot i was on a 00165
pg. 57
PP1V8_S3 on inductor L7820 present
PP1V05_SUS present on pin 1 of u7840
PP1V5_S0 present at pin 1 of u7870
pg. 58
PP1V5_S0SW_AUDIO present
PP3v3_S4_FET_R Present (why does this exist? all it does is go to a pad with an unpopulated...
Yeah, was doing a PRAM reset just in case.
Different BIOS did not work. Tried one from my stash of .bin files i know works (it was from 2018 though), and also one from labone, and one from the rossmann forums discord.
What happens after CPU comes to life? Do we know the POST sequence? EDIT...
Thanks for the advice. I was looking at the pads too i think.
The board stays off. Hooked to a keyboard, i can get the button to power it on again for another 5s.
No go for the BIOS file, I did that earlier today. I think i skipped the erase and blank check, i'm used to a diff program...
Traces OK.
Is SPI_MLB_CLK supposed to be a clock signal? I get no wave on scope, no partial voltage on meter. Full 3.3 after it shuts down though. Dunno if that's important
Thanks 2! I'm going to try to be as unannoying and 100% responsive as possible. Our valley caught on fire last week, so I've had to take a few days away from the shop.
Killed J6100, pads look fine. I have an XGecu Pro so don't need jtag.
lifted all 16 term resistors, each measured out of...
No obvious liquid damage, super grimy user (oils, weed, crap) along edge of board, no visible corrosion.
Board was missing 32KHz clock. Replaced chip, clock present. Orange light, fans spin for 5 seconds, seems to reach S0 but then powers off. No chime, no memory beeps. Tried SMC bypass...
