This one is a liquid damage board.
PPBUS_G3H is 13,06V, I got 20V and it charges the battery just fine.
Without battery it is stuck with 20V@0A
I am in S0 state and all rails on the power rail page are present except for the cpu:
PPVCCPU_S0G = 0V
PPVCCSA_S0G = 0V
PPVCCGT_S0G = 0V
On U7800...
Hi 2informaticos, just to let you know that replacing ISL9240 solved the problem. :)
Had to wait until I found an ISL9240 from a 820-01700.
Thanks as always!
Thanks for the info, very valuable!
I do have 5V at R7020.
AUX_DET is 1.3V witch seems ok according to the 5V going actually through the voltage divider.
AUX_OK seems to be NC "NC_CHGR_AUX_OK"
CHGR_RST_IN is 0V
At C6960/70 and C7080: I have 0,455 in diode mode.
This one looks clean, I have 5V 0A.
PP1V8_SLPS2R is missing and diode mode is 0.330 seems a little bit off from 0,390 so I am not sure... resistance to ground is high on both boards arounf 500kOhms.
PPBUS_G3H is 0,42V with no short, diode mode is 0,455 same compared with other board.
PP3V3_G3H...
No I had no pulse at PM_SLP_S4_L when SMC_ONOFF_L was triggered.
PCH_DSWVRMEN present and the 4 RTC signal are present (checked them in the beginning but didn’t reported them).
I heated the PCH with flux but no change, probably still crap or an issue.
I returned the machine to the customer...
PM_RSMRST_L is steady high at 3.3V
Replaced R5100 with a 35k but nothing changed.
Yes I detect drop pulse at PM_PWRBTN_L, when SMC_ONOFF_L is triggered, I check for PM_SLP_S5 and found it missing 0V.
Checked PM_BATLOW_L 3.32V , PM_DSW_PWRGD 3.41V and 3V3_SUS 3.3V.
Yes all the tests done when...
Ok so when it doesn't start: PP3V42_G3H is 3.422V, SMC_ONOFF_L is 3.419V and PPBUS_G3H is 8.59V.
However, SMC bypass mode simply doesn't work! I missed it since the board boots normally and works I didn't try it!
I tried also smc bypass with LIO flex to monitor the magsafe LED, the led stay...
Hello 2informaticos, I did an ultrasonic but no change.
I tested it without flex and nothing else plugged in, only original magsafe 85w and it starts as expected without the green line.
Then I trigger SMC_ONOFF_L to shut it down and power it on: it will start sometimes but not consistently...
This logicboard had water damage causing backlight issue, crap near SMC and ISL6259 but no heavy damaged components.
Cleaned everything reflowed SMC to make sure.
At this point, it boots all ok with battery, it charges when magsafe is plugged in. AHT test doesn't show any error.
It will start...
Tried smc bypass and nothing happens, it continues pulsing.
PM_SLP_S5 is missing 0V
Tried my second U7100 and back to square one with only stable 5,2V at ppdcin_g3h. Wanted to try SMC_Bypass and still nothing happened, I checked at SMC_ONOFF_L and it was low 0,2V.
So I may have an SMC issue...
I received donnour boards and replaced U7100, now the board is power cycling.
PPDCIN is spiking to 5.21V and PPBUS is spiking to 8.16V
SMC_RESET_L is now spiking to 3.3V
PP3V3_G3H is now spiking at 3,3V
PP3V3R3V0_AON is also spiking to 3,3V
I really have no other idea what to look next, if...
Yes I do measure 5.22 V on PPDCIN_G3H and PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR.
CHGR_ACIN voltage divider is working and I get 1,32V.
I found out SMC_RESET_L at 0,22V.
R7160 is ok at 100kOhms and I get 0,22V on both sides of this resistor.
No short, in diode mode, I get 0,720 on SMC_RESET_L and 0,568 on SMC_RST_L...
This board has no liquid damage, usb meter shows that dcin is set to 5.2V at 0.065A witch means no negociation with SMC.
PP3V3R3V0_AON is missing (0V), 0.306 in diode mode and resistance to ground is 600 kOhms
PP3V3_G3H is missing (0V), 0.359 in diode mode and resistance to ground is 82kOhms...
Without U8030 I had no S3 voltage.
SMC_DCIN_VSENSE voltage is 2,42V whitch looks ok according to the voltage divider.
Changed SMC and yes the board is back to life!
I am sure just a reball would have worked but I didn't bother, board is in immaculate condition with white indicators but still...
Hi, here are all values I noted.
PPDCIN_G3H 16,5V
PP3V42_G3H 3.42V
PPBUS_G3H 12,56V
PPVRTC_G3H 3.3V
PP5V_S5 5V
PM_SLP_S5_L is missing (0V) so S4, S3 and S0 versions of PP5V are 0V
PP3V3_S5 3.3V
PP3V3_SUS 3.3V
PP3V3_S4 0,446V
S4_PWR_EN is missing (0V) because of PM_SLP_S5 missing
PP3V3_S3...
Thanks JohnB8812 and 2informaticos,
Didn't yet replaced smc.
Always using original 85W magsafe 2 for magsafe2 power jack boards.
Should had mention I've already checked isl6259 pin 17-18 and 27-28 they are normal 25,5V and 5,5V.
AVREF_SMC is present at 3,3V.
CHGR_A/BMON are 0.031V and 0.053V...
PPBUS_G3H: 12.56V PP5V_S5 5V PP3V3_S5: 3.3V PPVRTC_G3H: 3.3V normal green/orange magsafe light
No further power rails present.
U1900 seems ok, I can see 32KHz present, SMC_ONOFF_L, SMC_RESET_L present at 3.3V
Found a very small micro greenish spot near smc, cleaned it and reflowed SMC but...
You are so right.
After a fresh look this morning I found out an open trace on SPI_CS0_R_L,
R6120 was not anymore linked with R6110. All other trace were fine,
I had a test point still with gold color but with a tiny corrosion on the begining of the trace, barely noticeable, This was enough to...
