Lately I've been reballing 215-07980006 chips to leaded before soldering. Getting better results with the chip sitting flat on the card, otherwise was difficult getting the corner balls to melt.
One thing to point out diagnostics indicate...
Farm this out to soneone who does BGA rework. Let them provide the chip. Ive had good results in buying PCH chips. But you'll struggle to make your BGA rework machine pay.
Ive seen this a number of times. If you loom at the copper contact point o the heatsink it will be depressed. Causing a short on the caps. Replace heatsink. Its a simple fix
