dukefawks - ALL_SYS_PWRGD pulses once when I connect the charger or short SMC_ONOFF_L 2informaticos - I've only checked ALL_SYS_PWRGD and PM_SLP_S5_L, both will only do a single pulse like your board. I can try looking at the BIOS if there's nothing else left to do, because I have no BIOS...

    820-00165-A - PM_SLP_S4_L missing

2informaticos : with SMC_ONOFF_L shorted to ground, PM_PWRBTN_L is pulled down to ~300mV PM_SLP_S5_L gives a ~80ms 3.2V pulse, just as it does when connecting the magsafe. I don't know what this is telling me, other than that the power button press is being responded to.

This macbook came in with no signs of current or past corrosion anywhere to be found. Board looks as new. History: machine would sometimes shut down and work again for a while when started up again. Later, it only worked in safe mode, up until the current state: it wont power up at all. no fan...

If you like openboardview more than landrex testlink..

The upcoming feature to record past and current projects looks great Paul, just what I'd use. Your setup is sweet G.Beard. I'll take both the software and the setup, along with a stack of boards to repair. :)

2012 iMac - screen fell out about half a year after SSD replacement

A while ago I got a couple 2012+ iMac SSD upgrade jobs from a local business. I hadn't taken a screen off of one of those yet, but things went smoothly. For Macbooks, I use 3M 300LSE to tape lcd bezels back on. It is strong stuff, so I figured I could use it to put these iMac screens back on. I...

    Apple ASD Reference List.

I often checked what is probably the same list at http://www.dannydullin.com/apple-service-diagnostic-asd-reference-list/, which seems to have disappeared somewhere between a few weeks ago and today. Glad you posted it, I'm storing it in a file this time. Thanks!

how do you guys deal with walk-in customers when busy working on a shit board/job

Congrats on your expansion! I don't have much to add other than that I'd hate it if people could walk in whenever. I don't even like picking up the phone when working on a board. Perhaps you'll learn to stop what you're doing and pick up where you left off a little easier over time. I'd probably...

New to this work and frustrated sourcing donor boards that are two weeks away.

For me its aliexpress or ebay. I try to order early and keep an eye on my stock.

How pedantic are you about noting everything you do to a board?

I create a folder for each board repair and store images and an excel in there. The excel has all information about the repair: what the customer told me, what I found during visual inspection, how the device behaves while with me and all replaced components and other repairs. Measurements go in...

    Anybody seen this magic machine??

Most of us here are charging something like that or less for disassembling and cleaning a machine manually, repairing actual logic board problems ánd cleaning it in a UC. I don't really understand how larger companies get away with charging the amounts they do and keep their business, but I...

    People love sodomizing shit

No Title Someone mailed me these images last week. He was gifted this laptop to try and fix. He said he thinks it fell on its corner and perhaps someone pulled on the charger cord too hard. I think someone tried to eat the case with pliers. I said I'd replace the magsafe for my standard fee...

    Anybody seen this magic machine??

Going off of their website, which lacks any relevant information about this thing, I'd be surprised their machine even exists at all (does it, really?). There is no information about the product itself, how exactly it works, or how, if the animated video (with no actual real footage) is supposed...
