sorry, brain got retarded there and thought that was the problem.
power button LSI sensor hit, edge bonding gone from the GPU, flux under it. no clue about the history, I have a friend who is keeping an eye out for an 820-3330 for me and this is one he tracked down DOA.
u4800 area has a few...
howdy howdy howdy, I've got an 820-3330 that won't boot (no chime, no no-ram beep, no USB mouse lightup), PCH gets nice and toasty and is giving me trash instead of SPI_MLB_CLK.
I assume the PCH is fucked, but I'd love for it not to be . help computah!
howdy, I've replaced quite a few of these recently and ran out of spares, so I hopped on ebay to grab a few, but good god, are these little things ever expensive.
is there a common component that fails on these?
external with and without internal plugged in, can't get video at all. left it plugged in over night for shits and giggles and it was still on when I got to work this morning, so it's not shutting down at least. are the GPUs flakey in these like the 2011s?
with a usb drive, it looks like it's booting off it since the LED will blink for a while, but even plugged in for five minutes, it doesn't give me video. in target disk mode, the drives won't pick up on another mac either.
[edit] hmm, after ten or so minutes, it shits itself off as well. neat
I'm getting no display on thunderbolt either, tried resettin gSMC and pram, all I get is chime but no video. all GPU rails look good and I'm basically lost at this point
it's the one that is gold on the part that rests on the board, and silver on the top, unlike the earlier ones, so yeah, I think that's the right one.
on a side note, where do you find these connectors? I can only find the 2009-2011 ones, this is the second 2012 15" board I've ever seen
yes, prior person replaced LVDS and ran a jumper for bklt for some reason. thankfully the guy didn't clean anything off, so the area around the gpu was covered in dust and no liquid made it under the chip or even on that part of the board, only LVDS side. only darkened probe points are a few...
smc_lid was the first thing I checked, it's present. strangely, if I close the lid, the LED will start breathing like it's in sleep mode, and when I open the lid, the LED turns off, but no video of course
Howdy, I've got an 820-3330-B with no internal or external video. chimes with a solid sleep LED. all_gpu_good and all_sys_pwrgd present, gmux 3.3 1.2 and 1.8 rails all good, slp signals present.
someone already ran jumper wire to bklt pins on lvds, so recall is out of the question
nope, no liquid spill at all, just wouldn't boot in normal mode but worked fine in smc bypass mode. with the new SMC on there, it's chiming now at least, just not getting video anymore for some reason.
Howdy folks,
I've got an 820-3332-A that would work fine in SMC bypass mode, but no chime no video slow fan spin in normal mode. couldn't find anything wrong with it so I slapped a new SMC on it, and now it's chiming but I can't get any video internally or externally.
help computer?
