Have this board that doesn't boot. The fan spins and the cpu is warm but no usb activity. First i found previous work done, they had soldered C4109 to R4457(1) and to ground. This is due to it's pads being missing. In anywise, i corrected the cap connection by soldering it to C4110 (1) and...
R5860 along with a few other components were missing. But R5860 was the main issue as it goes to U5860 (thermal sensor C, air flow right).
Thanks again for the assist. This is now fixed.
Hello
I have this logic board that originally came in with not powering from usb-c but from battery, and also not seeing SSD. Fixed the usb-c issue by replacing U3200/3100 and the ssd was due to R9350 being knocked off. But now I'm dealing with fan spin issue. I slowly ramps up to high fan...
You've saved the day again. So it appears the ISL6259 chip (which was a new chip and not from a donor board) that i had replaced earlier was also defective. Now both lines are reading 0.55 and the board now recognizes the battery.
Thanks again for the assist.
Unfortunately i didn't check the diode readings after i had got very low ohm resistance measurement on both lines. I proceeded to Pulled the smc to check for crap that may be underneath and then noticed resistance went up into the Kohms.
SMBUS_BATT_SCL - 0.649(1.66v steady). Same readings with D7050
SMBUS_BATT_SDA - 0.55/(Voltage reading bounces between 3.4 and .22). With D7050 removed, it does the same thing on voltage reading and has same diode reading.
This is interesting because before the SMC replacement, both voltages...
I have this board that's not recognizing the battery but once i power on the computer with a magsafe, i can then run the system without the magsafe. On the display, it's not showing the battery.
I've replaced the SMC and U7100. I've also check check R7151/2, and R7121/2
Yeah, appears i had fixed the original issue with the parts replacement. I just had to reinstall fresh OS. There must have been some file corruption when those chips corroded.
Anyway, thanks for the assist.
Have a weird one. This is my first SSD troubleshooting ever. The board doesn't see the ssd, gives a question mark folder. But if i boot up holding the option key, it then shows the ssd. Also, if i boot into recovery mode, it ssd shows up. I can boot into the ssd OS when i use the option key...
I have this board that doesn't seem to boot up. PM_PCH_PWROK is 3.3 so is PP5V_S0 @ 5. I've connected external display with no output and the board is warm to the touch after a few minutes. The battery also charges.
Any suggestions on what to check next?
Yep. Per you advice, start going through all the signals for the SMC and found PP3V42_G3H around 2.5v and slowly climbing. Resistance on that line was 90ohms. Isolated to U1900. Replaced and board now boots up.
Thanks for the assist.
PPVRTC_G3H - 3.3 the whole time
PP5V_S4- 0.02 during the 1min time before the board powers up
P5VS4_EN - 0.08 during the 1min time before the board powers up
all S5 are powered on during the 1min time before the board powers up.
I replaced the smc again with the same result.
After placing a little flux on the pins, I usually preheat the whole board with a heat gun (the kind you find at Lowe’s), before using the reflow station heat gun set at 350-365. Just be patient and also suggest trying this on a donor board first.
Hello
I have this board that came in first with missing PPBUS_G3H. Replaced U7100 which resolved that. But then PP5V_S5 was then missing. Replaced SMC and i now have PP5V_S5. The board still isn't power up. I'm missing PP5V_S4, with P5VS4_EN also at zero. But after about 2min or so of the...
So before pulling U9600, since i still had the original one, i installed it into the donor board (which didn't originally have video issue) and the chip works. So now i'm lost again as to where to go from here
No video on external display or on another known good display.
Also fan ramps up to max. Ive tested with another frame to confirm issue isn't with keyboard or trackpad.
