Hi,
I'm trying to fix that board that obviously had a WD, when I plug the charger I can hear the charger sound notification like for an Iphone.
I checked PPBUS and I have 12.59V. But on the other hand it doesn't pull any current when I check my little usb power meter: 20.3V 0A
The thing as this...
Resistance to GND for PP3V42 is 2.5KOhms
And here my mesurement regarding "short" on PP5V_S3.......but if the MCP is bad It doesn't worth to continu removing the ones I haven't done so far.....
Removed components:
For PP5V_S3_P5VS0FET: Q7940
For PP5V_S3_ODD: Q4590
For PP5V_S3_AUDIO_AMP...
I will check all the associate rails to PP5V_S3_REG:
=PP5V_S3_P5VS0FET
=PP5V_S3_ODD
=PP5V_S3_AUDIO_AMP
=PP5V_S3_AUDIO

Replaced the magsafe connector board:

regarding the magsafe 1 -->2 adapter here what I've found on the Apple official web site:
Compatibility
24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display
27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display
Apple Thunderbolt Display
Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter
Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter
MacBook Pro with Retina...
thanks for your confirmation, I've also already read somewhere in the forum that those adapter ( even official ) are not reliable .............
So my next step will be to try to found an official 85W magesafe 2 cable, to attach to my DC Power supply, like that I will have both
The board is starting but the fans slowly run to full speed......wht the easiest way to diagnose?
should I installed it in the machine and run the ASD or is there another way to find out as the board is on my desk........
I've connected the LIO board and it's still the same.
And what do you think about working with a dc power supply with a original magsafe 1 85W cable and official magsafe 1-->2 adapter. ( I can monitor the power drained by the board )
Does that cover all the boards (except type C of course) ?
