    Target disk mode is an old Apple "invention"; not USB-C only. Any Mac with USB-C is good in your case. Any error pops up starting in diagnostic mode?

    If Q7610 was shorted, an overvoltage occured on 3V3_S5 power rail. Did you check diode mode there? Post U7600 basic volatges: 17, 18, 4, 5, 24, 12. Be aware, ISL62383C is known as common failure on iMac boards.

    CPU core should drop from 1-1.1V to 0.6-0.7V aprox in 10s. PCH, CPU and BIOS are involved in this sequence. Test the board alone on the desk; 87W charger is required.
