Finished the windows install - works fine until drivers there - once windows update has run and installed drivers the machine again will freeze then shut off - just like it does after loading mac os.
I've been over the board carefully under the microscope and can see nothing else visible
Ok i've tried a Windows 10 install USB - which boots fine and will sit on the welcome to windows screen for an hour no issue, no freezing no shutting down. Mac OS safe mode is also behaving the same as it does in normal mode = boots then shuts down shortly after hitting the login screen. Is this...
ok right i've gone through all the S5 rail feedback resistors and found R7910 was dead - have replaced and now board powers up. So that's one issue resolved.
Now issue #2 is the board works fine on the choose a boot device screen (option) but when I boot it up to either the customers SSD or my...
no pulses at PM_SLP_S4/3_L, no pulses on any S3 or S0 voltages either when triggering SMC_ON_OFF_L.
I'll check Page 64 again but I didn't see any shorts before.
Do not currently have a scope unfortunately - am checking rails with a Fluke meter. Yes board is being tested alone on desk without anything else attached other than a 85W Type C Charger.
Another liquid damaged macbook in today this one 820-00875A. Was a lot of liquid damage focussed around keyboard connector. Keyboard connector was burned and has been replaced. Board has been Ultrasonic'd for 4 minutes. The issue is the machine won't start, the S5 3.3V and 5V rails just pulse...
SMC_PM_G2_EN is high 3.4V
BUF_SMC_RESET_L is high 3.4v
PP1V2_S5_SMC_VDD - 1.2v
PP3V3_S5_SMC_VDD - 3.4v
also of note but probably not important right now L6600 and L6601 are missing. They appear to be just for audio so i'm not too concerned about them right now!
so i've received a liquid damaged 820-00840-a in today. Liquid damage was focussed around the U7650 area. I've cleaned it all and visibly inspected the area - resoldered U7650 as pins 31 and 26 were not shiny anymore.
If I connect charger it negotiates to 20v as expected but with a tiny spike...
Yeah you were 100% correct it was Q7180 - tried D7010 first was same then replaced Q7180 and it's working now. First time i've had to replace it to be honest!
So i've got an 820-4924-A which won't charge when using original charger. The light won't come on the charger there is no voltage at J7000 and it's not charging. I've tried a different charging socket (known good in another macbook) which also doesn't work. If I use a chinese charger the green...

Looks like dead CPU - PPVRTC_G3H is shorted and when I inject power the only thing heating up is the CPU. I hate these 820-00165...
so to cut a long story short got an 820-00165 in today from a Macbook Air A1466. Was initally giving no green light on the charger which I traced back to a short on PP3V42_G3H after injecting power onto PP3V42_G3H it wasn't taking much power for anything to get hot. I pulled off U7090 - short...
So to cut a long story short one of my colleagues went to change the keyboard on an A1708 macbook, ripped the touchpad cable in the process. We have replaced the touchpad cable but the touchpad is still not functioning. So we got another touchpad cable - same. We have then replaced the touchpad...
