Think you are correct as with further visual inspection U2800 looks discoloured like it has a burn mark on it. It's got like a brown spot on it.
Is there a source for replacement U2800 or it's a case of pulling one of a donor board only?
Got an 820-3478 board in off an iMac 27" 2013 today but neither of the thunderbolt ports will work. If I connect a monitor to either of them monitor is showing connected no signal but there are no mirroring options coming up.
Is this likely to be burned U3210 and U3310?
Thats a good question - i'm not 100% sure it is original but it certainly looks it - it's an 85W one.
Found out why it wasn't starting eventually - it was R5501 not connected on PPBUS_G3H side. Now i've got another issue that the board appears to start but after I shut it down and leave it for...
Interesting you should say that - for the past couple years i've never found an 820-00165-A which will start without the battery when the left i/o board is attached - they will start when the i/o board is not connected usually just like this one!
J9500 is clean - there was 0 liquid damage on...
Got a Macbook Air A1466 liquid damage job in today 820-00165A board. Have cleaned it up and fixed the following issues:
1) C7136 completely exploded and burned PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR to ground inside the board - have done some digging around where C7136 was and cleared this short
2) Backlight feedback...
ok the bios you attached is working and will boot to el capitan - doesn't detect my catalina drive though - presumably it is too old and doesnt have APFS support. I've attached the old bios if you could work some magic on it and fix the ME region!
820-4924 Old BIOS
I've received a strange Macbook in today. A1502 2015 Model 820-4924A board. It powers up normally but it won't boot properly. With the customers OS X install which is filevault protected after entering the password we get the apple logo then the loading bar appears and it goes all the way to the...
Coils removed - short still there, dead CPU it seems shame. Macbook's have to be the first laptops i've worked on where a dodgy USB device can kill the processor - very good circuit design there!
u1950:
pin 5 - 3.4v
pin 6 - 3.4v
pin 7 - 3.4v
Is it possible dead U7200? I see it gets power from PP5V_S0 which i'm sure has been backfed from the hard drive customer plugged in?
Edit - I think dead CPU actually VCORE is reading 1ohm to Ground
Was getting vcore yesterday yes - not today it seems!
Double checked it again no vcore!
It is still getting to S0 as getting PP5V_S0 still at a stable 5V
No C1301 on this board - if you mean C1001 - getting a solid 0v from there. PLT_RESET_L is staying low 0v. USB Mouse lights up. Also appear to be getting some heat from Q7180 and L7130 - they are not excessively hot but warmer than the rest of board.
Seems like this is another one of apple's idiot boards that won't even attempt to start without the battery plugged in..
With a fully charged new battery the system is pulsing on the PM_SLP_Sx_L signals and actually goes into S0 state. CPU doesn't appear to be heating up though but I do have...
SMC_ONOFF_L is triggerin PM_PWRBTN_L yes. There is a tiny pulse on PM_SLP_S4_L - almost missed it with the meter goes up to 0.023v only that I can see then immediately off again.
Little bit of history on this one - customer plugged an external hdd into this one - one of those cheap sata to usb converter box style ones but also plugged in a 5v dc psu to the hdd as well. After which machine is dead - i'm thinking the USB 5V S3 Rail has been back fed with the power from the...
