    820-2936 No Backlight

I take it back. Tested a new LCD and LCD Cable and SHUBAAAM backlight and image. Guess it's that simple.

    820-2936 No Backlight

Hey all, have a water damaged board that has no backlight. There wasn't any corrosion or red pads when I got it, and it doesn't look like anyone has tried working on it. I verified that there's a display, just no backlight. F9700 was blown, so I replaced it, and now get a green light but no...

    [SOLVED]820-2915-B with no backlight

Thanks for all the help guys, talked to the customer and we mutually agreed it was better to just have full brightness permanently than to attempt a U9600 swap. Even if it was a reflow I still would prefer full brightness. You guys are great! Btw I got the idea and hard wired the PWM signal from...

    [SOLVED]820-2915-B with no backlight

I'm thinking about it... But if I remove R9704 I have 0v at pin 1, so the GMUX still isn't putting out 3.3v, so it wouldn't be the driver pulling it down right?

    [SOLVED]820-2915-B with no backlight

Did a PRAM reset, SMC_LID is high.

    [SOLVED]820-2915-B with no backlight

same as connector side. The GMUX is acting up, removed resistor for PWM and ran pp3vs0 straight to the pad going to BKL_PWM and the backlight is good now. I'll check caps and voltage going into it to see what's up. Yeah I wouldn't know where to begin with this... Not sure what enables that signal.

    [SOLVED]820-2915-B with no backlight

Hey all, Have a MBPRO 15" with no backlight. No liquid damage, supposedly just stopped working. What' I've measured: Fuse: 12.6v on each side BKLT_EN: 3.2v LVDS Pins 389,39,40; all at 29.6v Figured it was a bad LCD right? Nope, tested an LCD that works fine and no backlight still. The...

[SOLVED]820-3115 BIL connector preventing Battery from Charging

Replaced it just in case, thanks! Haven't had any problems with it, maybe it was just an SMC glitch.

[SOLVED]820-3115 BIL connector preventing Battery from Charging

I have a MacBook Pro, no water damage or anything, but it wouldn't power on. Was getting green light, no orange light, and no power. I disconnected the BIL connector cuz I've noticed it's a common issue, and sure enough the light turned orange, battery started charging, and computer turned on...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeell there's a crack on the die of the CPU. I guess I should have figured as much from a self attempted repair from a customer. Thanks for all your help guys!! Edit: Figured I should tell you guys that I found out by laying the board down again and just letting some power run...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

Yes it was liquid damaged, damage was confined to the LCD connector area of the board. The trace to pin 26 is solid, continuity is good. There is still a voltage drop at Q7180. Yes I'm gettting a green light that turns orange with no battery. I skipped over Q7180 because even though I was only...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

12.3v is stable, only not working correctly at bat_conn. Had it plugged in while I was looking at the schematic and the fans came on and were running fine, I turned the board over and it cut off immediately. I'm only getting 1v out of the SMC for DSW_PWRGD now, I feel like I'm making negative...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

Swapped out 21 & 22, between pins 27 & 28 I now have 20.1 ohms resistance. I swapped out the other 3 resistors as well, R7151 reads 2.2 ohms, ~<.1 ohm for the other two. Still getting 3.8 ohms between 17 & 18. Does it matter a lot? From both R7151 and R7152 to R7150 each way reads .8, which...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

PPBUS_G3H is stable at 12.3v. Again I'm not sure if it's supposed to be at 12.6v. I'm getting 18.6v at Q7180, but only getting 18.1v~18.2v out. From there I'm getting 12.3v out of F7140 consistently with no drops. Pins 17/18 show 3.8 ohms, but R7151 shows 2.3 ohms and R7152 shows <.1 ohm. From...

How does a BATLOW_L signal work?

I have yet another MacBook Pro, this one an 820-4924-a. It shows a green light and orange light, but won't boot. I'm not getting a BATLOW_L signal. The schematic says it goes from SCM (u5000) to PCH (u0500) with a pull up resistor in the middle. Does it go like this? .........Resistor...

    820-3787-a Won't Power

I'm gonna take a break from this for a bit, was poking around the SMC and noticed a few components missing like R5403 and C5577. Whoever worked on this before me did a bang up job. I'll be waiting for donor boards and will update once I can resume diagnosing. Thanks for everything!

    820-3787-a Won't Power

So the damage was mostly confined to the lower left area of the board (around the PCH and WIFI card connector) although the battery has a lot of corrosion on the board. I haven't used the battery at all. A bit of background, the board was originally worked on and "cleaned" but when I got it, it...

    820-3787-a Won't Power

Alright so I bridged C8134 to R8137 and it basically drops the voltage to almost nothing. Input is still 3.3v, but from C8134 pin 2 to R8137 pin 1 is almost zilch. What am I missing here? In case this info needs to be up here, what's working: PPBUSG3H PP3V42 PP3v3_S5 PP5v_S5 I'm not getting...

    820-3787-a Won't Power

I've got a smoothie damaged board that won't boot. I'm not getting PM_PCH_APWROK nor PM_PCH_PWROK. On U1950 I need ALL_SYS_PWRGD and CPUVR_PGOOD. I'm not getting ALL_SYS. It comes out of Q8151, but that's where I'm stuck. For Q8151 I have PP3V3_S5_1v5PGOOD coming in just fine, C8134 is fine...
