Having just fixed up a liquid damaged 820-2838, I want to run ASD to check to see if there's any dud sensors I've missed (wouldn't surprise me). I've tried 'D' and 'Option-D' during boot, even ctrl-D, no avail, both with, and without the SSD. Wifi works.

So basically treat it like an old friction fit FPC socket?

Oh GREAT, I just had one of these the other week, waiting on a replacement keyboard, and yes, I've flipped up the top-latch on the metal FPC connector too; for future reference, how are you supposed to extract the flex from the board connector... or don't at all?

Fake the lid closure using a magnet, see if it does the same. I'm half wondering if it's just the cable shifting and disconnecting or something.

I think the coffee stains and smell on/around the keyboard might be a bit of a give-away.

Coffee spill. No migration through to the main board thankfully, but I've noticed there's not a lot of price difference between replacing the keyboard within vs a complete top-deck replacement. My question more is "Is there a preferred supplier?" (sending to Australia)

I'm making the assumption that you're referring to the forced-EFI update method SMMRepair was alluding to? The machine is now working correctly on High Sierra (including webcam) with the clean-ME region 3437 BIOS that I previously sourced from one of your links and the serial number region...

After reformatting the machine, logging in, with Sierra, cam works again. Not sure if that's because I was able to log in as a normal user, where's prior to the reinstall it was a guest user? Intermittent, lucky, or is there something else at play?

UPDATE: Feel free to ignore this, turns out the camera ceased working a long time ago. A new machine, sadly another readable but for some reason non-functional BIOS (flipped bits somewhere I suppose). After the same process of taking the clean ME region BIOS and transferring the SN...

Is there a reference for what this sensor failure is specifically referring to? I'm presuming some sort of voltage sensor (as opposed to I/current or TH/thermal)

C5349 and R5349 are right next to each other on the board, are you sure you're looking at the right one?

L9008 was high (43K). Replaced and everything came good. Thanks for the information, made me realise that there was the 2nd 3V3 lines separate from the ones I was measuring. Booting now.
