I have seen this a few times but never really fixed it.
The PP5V_MAIN_ALSCAM_F fail was dead at J8550. A burnt inductor was obvious on the LB.
Repaired the damaged traces and was able to return power to PP5V_MAIN_ALSCAM_F at J8550 but still no display.
These machines come in for damaged...
complaint: Dead no power.
I discovered that "PPDCIN_G3H_ISOL resistor R7005" was open.
Replaced this part and the machine worked but with one catch. I was using my bench power supply with a modified cord for power.
When I use a regular charger it is dead. Nothing comes on. No green light...
R8141 was high resistance.
You sir are a
steely-eyed missile man
I have never troubleshot this area. There was water damage around U7501 however a physical poke and scrape check of R8141 appeared that the resistor was good so I moved on. Just goes to show you never know!
I have a 820-00165 that is just sitting there 0.025A Not enabling 3v3 SUS and turning on the BIOS.
I noticed that PM_DSW_PWRGD is not present at R1451.
This is generated by the SMC. Isn't this required to enable 3V3_SUS?
Tried forcing it with a 10k and 1k resistor but it gets pulled down...
After the machine goes into standby it will not wake up. The processors get hot and the fans run non stop. Have to hold power button to shut it off and restart it.
Sensors are all reading normally.
The unit gets hot when it goes to sleep. The CPU's get hot and the fans run. It is like...
CC1 is basically a short
CC2 is 0.02
I have been poking around on these. Lots are shorted. Some are fine when I slide the surge diodes off others are not
I know that no schematic exists for this model but I am using 820-00293
I am looking at the USB-C signals off of J3300 and there are top and bottom. Both go to the same CD-3215 depending on the port used. All 4 ports are dead but one works if I plug the charger in upside down.
Would it be...
Rails to U7200 good "replaced chip"
The 5v3v3 EN is present
I get a very small pulse PP3V3S5_DRVH "see picture" Not enough to run anything.
I am real new to these boards. This is my first time troubleshooting this problem. I am fishing.
It starts the power up cycle. Powers up 2.5V SSD0 I see thermal activity at U9580 which is normal. Looks like the T2 is trying to read those chips for a while.
Then it just quits reading and shuts down to 0.01A current draw. Looks like a load failed.
Thermal imaging does not indicate...
I figured out that the clock and data signals are quiet unless you open the mic up in the IOS.
The T2 must keep the mic disabled unless used.
When I put the scope on the mic after opening it up in the software there was data and a clock.
Not sure why this was a complaint with the laptop.
I...
I have the board on the bench and have a mic plugged into J6640.
the 1.8v is present. No clock or data.
Does the Mic have to be in use before this works or is it always chattering data and clock?
How do these Mic's work?
Looks like those lines come from the T2
Water damage around U1980. Which is the PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 supply.
Had to replace this chip to get 2.5V rail back. But what is scary is it's supply was PPBUS G3H. So it is safe to assume that 12V hit the SSD line. I replaced the IC and cleaned up the damage and this supply is back up.
Now...
