A1104 (Vinage Powerbook G4 12") - Keyboard interchangeable between 15/17' models? Hey everyone Before you laugh; I just want to bring this device back to its old glory because I loved the design. Its a hobby project and not for my business, but this felt like the most knowledgeable place to...

    Anybody seen this magic machine??

I don't even understand what this device can do that will clean away corrosion because the video tells me they place the whole device in. (In which most if not all methods of cleaning will destroy the display and speaker/microphones) If this device even exists it probably just a big dryer. Also...

    820-3032 Ram issue

The MacBook Air 2011 ram issues is from experience 95% of the time the CPU/PCH or internal traces. I stopped accepting these unless the customer just wants to get a replacement board straight away (I always try to have one in stock) Missing memory voltage is something that might be fixable...

How to approach heat gunned crap

Honestly for me its not worth the bad reviews, just pull the lid and if it looks fucked just don't touch it and ask the customer to come pick it up. Especially the heat gunned CPU/GPU's, if you see the edge bonding visibly molten you know its going to be fucked no matter how hard you try

I don't have any 11" LCDs around, will a 13" macbook air 2011 LCD be sufficient?

820-3435 - Stuck on EFI part of boot with OSX - Boots Linux and Windows just fine

I've tried with everything disconnected other then: - LCD - Trackpad/Keyboard - Battery - Magsafe (Not the ext. cable, only the 5 pin power) I'll see if anything changes with the LCD disconnected tomorrow. I assume I can verify it by using HDMI?

where to buy EFI unlock tool?

They aren't hard to find, just need to get to the SPI rom and change some values. You can either de-solder the rom and connect it to a SPI Writer or get a breakout cable for the JTAG connector (which is my preferred method when I need to do anything with the SPI rom). You don't even need to...

820-3435 - Stuck on EFI part of boot with OSX - Boots Linux and Windows just fine

What kind of verbose logs are you thinking about? Here I have: - Booting from a USB CD - Booting from a USB OS ASD 3S156 - Booted Ubuntu installed on the local SSD (Same for booting a live CD by the way) EDIT: Ubuntu kernel log (dmesg): https://pastebin.com/udWY2JNk I might just take another...

820-3435 - Stuck on EFI part of boot with OSX - Boots Linux and Windows just fine

Still having the same issues, sadly. An apple authorized store diagnosed it as "Bad CPU", not sure if that could be the case? I mean it boots Ubuntu just fine with web browsing and all drivers are working as expected so I doubt it

820-3435 - Stuck on EFI part of boot with OSX - Boots Linux and Windows just fine

Thanks duke, I had no idea. I guess thats what you get for following shady tutorials online! The device still doesn't work though, same symptoms. Pressing Command+V Gives you the whole efiboot log all up until it hits "root device uuid is:", which if I remember correctly is the last line it...

820-3435 - Stuck on EFI part of boot with OSX - Boots Linux and Windows just fine

EDIT: If you want to help, read page 2. Lots of additional information :) No water damage and the board looks clean This macbook will not boot from internet recovery, SSD or external drive. All get stuck on the apple logo and when booted with Command+V it never actually leaves the EFI part of...

MacBook Air battery backing to life.

... Just buy a new battery Not worth risking. Once Li-ion cells are dead you can't recover them without extensive damage to their capacity. If the battery is just empty and not allowing any output due to security, try to charge it in a macbook and it will come back to life

    820 2915 what do you think ?

The obvious details like serial number on the board and on the machine eventually booting match so I'm honestly thinking they may have succeeded. Its more then the two wires in your post though, you see the video is cut and they suddenly have a bunch of wires running around the MUX as well. Who...

    820-2879 no sysonewire/pp3v42_g3h

Missing C7291 can cause this, but it also means someone decided it had to be gone. Place it back and keep your eyes open for other pulled components. The system might be able to start without C7291 but PP5V_S3_REG will have a considerable amount of ripple and inaccuracies making the system...

    820-00045 - Not getting into S4

PPVBUS_E85 was 19.9V when I posted that response but it measures as 5.14V now. PP3V3R3V0_AON is at 3.14V which is a bit low, when I posted that response it was 3.31V No idea why every time I fix it a couple of hours later something else dies again, what a crap. Especially U4700 loves to die...

    820-3662 - Sudden power off

So far I've been able to detect two types of crashes: 1. The system fully goes from S0 into S5 within <10ms because CPUVR_PGOOD goes down. 2. The system shows a blank screen but ALL_SYS_PWRGD and CPUVR_PGOOD stays high, fans will start spinning up and after 10 seconds the system powers off into...

    820-00045 - Not getting into S4

Anything that's most suspect? I'm honestly not fully suspecting PP5V1_S4SW as this board did not have any water damage. Its not that we're only missing PP5V1_S4SW but all S4 voltages are not being created due them not receiving their proper enable signals. The customer has data on here that was...
