Got an 820-3209 that had a tiny bit of liquid damage to backlight area. Repaired, tried to boot and it gives me the prohibited symbol. Iv'e ran into this problem like twice before and cannot fix. From what I understand, this means it cannot load macos due to corruption on the SSD Is this correct?
Removed C4810 and the board is now running. I take it C4810 was leaking to GND. Got a MS2 light and fan spin. put board into chassis just hear that glorious chime and got that as well as a flashing "?" folder.
Got an 820-3536 with no power, no MS2 light. No obvious signs of liquid damage. PP3V42_G3H is 3.42v but PPBUS is 12.26v. Checked pins 10 and 11 on U7100 and got .521 and .524 diode mode and 3.42V present on both pins. Looked around U1950 but didn't see anything crazy. I reballed the SMC becuse I...
Was getting 0v, started measuring components at the beginning of the charging circuit and found R7012 was reading 440K. Replaced it, now running off of all chargers with a green/orange MS2 light. Still have another issue though. The charge current still wants to run away. It starts low then...
I had to do the same thing on a board I worked on over a year ago. I replaced u7701 on an 820-3437 due to no backlight and had some leds not working. I thought "it couldn't have been my soldering" but sure enough, I pulled the board out of my rabbit hole box a year later, replaced U7701 and all...
R7180: 100K
R7181: 62.7K
R7185: 470K
R7186: 331K
D7012: 6.83V
I had to replace D7012 just now as it broke. is working with PSU 85W and regular 60W but not 85W
Sorry, I meant it will NOT run on a 60W charger. In fact, the only charger is DOES work on is the one that is hooked up to my Bench PSU. It will not run from an 85W, 60W, or 45W MS2. U7100 or U5000 issue?
It turns on in SMC bypass mode with the 85W on the bench PSU, but not the one that plugs into wall. BTW I strictly use OEM MS2 chargers purchased from a store.
Things that stand out to me in HW Monitor are:
PECI SA is 0 degrees
CPU VRM E is 0v
Mainboard S0 Rail is 2.89A
Memory module 1 is consuming 1.07W
Battery is charging, just drawing 3Amps of current.
Got an 820-00165 on the bench with no sign of liquid damage. The board works but when I connect to 85W magsafe it will not turn on. It will turn on with either a 60W or my lab bench PSU 85W plug made from genuine MS2. I checked the ISL and SCL, SDA lines and they measure .529 on Diode and 3.42V...
