Spent some time practicing with the medusa today, then used to put a good known bios and clean the ME on this one, put the Tiresias back on and boom, booted first time!
Can't tell you how good that felt and how easy that was with the medusa in comparison to removing the efi chip to re...
Got this in working (running high sierra) just for a ram and SSD upgrade,
Doddle of a job right!.
Wrong!
Long story short with the new SSD or putting back the old one it starts loading and gets the apple logo and progress bar and just hangs at the half way point and then reboots it does the...
Removed R8911 again and tried a known good Triesas chip, same deal.
So now with or without the Triesas it powers on, fan spin, chime, back light kicks in, but no display.
Also unable to do any kind of Pram reset it just dosent respond
So you recommend I first try this machine by disabling GPU with medusa.
When I received my medusa I got bunch of adaptors but it dosent come with any instructions or manual at all so I'm a bit lost with it..
Could you point me in the right direction for connecting it to this board and...
can this be done with Medusa?
Iv just got one from Harold but not used it yet??
Don't forget to remove R8904/11 first. Is it not just R8911 I remove to disable GPU? This is the first I have seen R8904 mentioned
In the first moment, did you get pure white, or classic Apple gray? = Pure white
Put back R8911 and removed Tiresias ,
Now just getting the exact same behavior, Machine powers on, chimes I get back light but just a black screen,.
( Same on external monitor )
It also seems unresponsive to...
Got what I thought is a classic 2011 15inch GPU issue.
Machine looks clean turns on and chimes but just shows a white screen
Removed board, disabled GPU by removing R8911 fitted Tiresias, pop board back in to test before adding brightness control wires and it turns on chimes back light...
So going over the board under the scope to check for voltages from your last post something caught my eye, pin 4 on J5713- keyboard ribbon connector, - pp3v42_g3h diddnt look right. To the naked eye it looked missing under the scope it was there but kinda weird not seen anything like it...
Do you get L7770 voltage? - Yes , - 1.064v , Sorry I had measured this and had it in my notes but missed it when typing my post,
Trigger SMC_ONOFF_L , Can I do this by using the power on pads as shown here? -https://www.rdklinc.com/poweronpads/16
I Know this is an old machine now, But this one is much loved and in amazing condition for it's age and I would love to get this one going again.
Green Light on magsafe / No power on. no fan spin

So just removed U7100 from my donor board, usual flux and heat it pops off as normal and I set aside to use as the replacement,
Then to this board apply flux and heat.. Wtf! It would not budge! Solder flowing chip still wouldn't move, I had to up the heat and the airflow and gently try to move...
Yer I'm checking the readings on the donor boards and as you say should be 2/3 ohm, I just can't find any bad trace or bad component in that area they all test fine and look the part all traces test fine to.
Smc_dcin_isense = 30mv
Smc_bmon_isense = 60mv
Smc_dcin_vsense = 2.75v
Smc_pbus_vsense...
Gone over all of yesterday's work all resistors are good with perfect readings, all traces are good area nice and clean.
Now pins 17/18 reading 30 ohms!
I even tried replacing r7151/2, with others from a second donor board, it must be something else pulling this up?
Still get 3 seconds on 3...
Removed c7150 and get 16.6ohm
I think hmm this can't be right, so put back c7150 and get 16.6!
Remove c7150 again left off board still getting 16.6 ohm
