A2338 came in for no power, liquid damage to keyboard. Fairly heavy corrosion around JR940 and surrounding area. Cleaned all corrosion, reflowed components in that area. Now I have the board at 5.19v drawing 41ma. PP3V8AON seems to pulsate from 0v to 3.3v, as observed at L5820:2.
Where to...
20.5v .004a. Machine powers up and logs into macOS, but battery not charging and very low. Also, I get no lights on the Chipmunk tester. Placed in DFU for revive, but did not solve the problem. Thoughts?
**UPDATE** That's weird.. now it is 5.19v .442a
I've got an A2779 here with minor liquid damage, but the lid angle sensor is in awful condition and I'd like to replace it. Mobile Sentrix sells one but I'm wondering if I can replace it by itself, or of I would have to replace the panel as well, because they are paired?
This is A2141, board 820-01700-A. Device shows battery icon(indicating critical low battery) but USBc is taking 20V 0A. I have a dead short to ground on PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG(measured at C7502:1), but injecting 1v is not pulling any current. Next steps?
This device is A2442, board 820-02098-A and came in with no power, liquid damage. I repaired the liquid damage and the machine powers on with chime but no internal display. External display is working.
I connected the master USBc port to a mac and apple configurator didn't see it. Voltage at C5403:1 is 12.32V - even though that component doesn't seem to be present.

This machine is haunted. I'm trying to clean-install Sonoma, and if I enter internet recovery, I can wipe the drive, initiate the install and with 14 min remaining, I get an error box stating "An error occurred loading the update". I then booted to a Sonoma install USB, and...
I've tried disconnecting the battery but no luck there. This machine will start out drawing about 1.3a, then slowly, start dropping at about 1ma/second. SSD memory controller gets hot, but CPU does not feel warm, no fans. I connected the Chipmunk tester and I have two solid red lights, but no...
Connecting power, I am getting 20v, but the current draw is cycling. Visual inspection of top of logic board looks good. I checked for PPBUS_G3H @ C8008/1 and it pulses as well, 13v - 0v - 13v
Here's a video.
And a video of the Chipmunk tester.
This customer attempted a battery replacement themselves. They damaged J4800 so I needed to replace it. Once I got it soldered to the board, I noticed the pads from PIN 8 and 12 were loose from the board. I'm looking at the boardview and I don't really see a good way to jump these two pins...
This device came in as a liquid damage machine. There was very little corrosion on the board and all of it cleaned up very well. It appears to power up properly, drawing about 2.3A. If I let it sit long enough I get a couple of faint vertical lines on the screen but no picture. With LCD...
This customer has now been here three times with his A1989. He reports the complaint as closing the lid in the morning, battery at 100%. After work, he notes before opening the lid, the device is very hot. He opens the lid and the battery is much lower.
Until now, I have not been able to...
No lights on charger. .369v @ L7095. Injected voltage at L7095 but all which heats up is L7095.
Where to go from here?
**UPDATE** Never mind. There's a ton of liquid damage on the underside of the board.
This device came in as a No Power complaint. I noted 5v .400a on all 4 USB ports. Verified no DFU. Noticed U9500 was getting hot and at this point, I noticed we had 20v. With battery charge ribbon cable disconnected, drawing about .150a. With battery charge ribbon connected, current climbs...
I actually can't even see the board number anywhere on this device. I looked it up on ebay to get the number which is apparently 821-04012. It's A2941 SN:LKXCDX6D7P
Anyhow, the customer says they spilled liquid and now the screen doesn't work. External video is working, lcd panel is on...
This is a 820-4924A A1502 model. The backlight is intermittent. Worked for an hour, then went out. I was checking the board for damage and I found heavy corrosion at Q7700 P1/2/3. I removed that component and cleaned the pads. I've got continuity between pins 2 and 3 and from the schematic...
A2141. When I power this up, I get the power chime, but then all I'm seeing is this single horizontal white line across the bottom area of the screen as pictured. I have connected this to an external display but I am not getting any output there. Does this seem like a board issue or screen...
