Is it possible to upgrade 00165/00164 to 16gb ram? I've been done 8gb but these days on newer os they are running pretty slow. I have a 4gb 00165that customer sold to me instead of fixing and wanted to upgrade to 16gb if possible. If it can which ram type do i need?
there were plenty of 8gb ram upgrades but that wasn't what i was looking for. i wanted 16gb ram upgrade. i only found one guy who did it on youtube which is why i asked the quesiton. Anyways, i think i ordered the correct ram (not sure becuase the video wasn't that high quality) and followed the same resistor swap. now am getting beeps on startup.
There are 4 lines to configure RAM capacity and brand, XDP_MLB_RAMCFG0-3.
R1611/35/36/31 are the pull-up resistors.
R2053/52/51/50 are the pull-down resistors.
The guy from that video only switched CFG3 to 1 (high level) from 0.
The other 3 lines depends of his original configuration.
If you had different chips on the MLB (than him), then need to play with CFG0-2 configuration.
That means 8 options possible.
I extracted 8GB configuration from other video:
- HYNIX 0010
- SAMSUNG 0110 K4E6E304EE-EGCE
- ELPIDA 1110
- MICRON 1010
If you get it working with 16GB, then post full configuration.
