820 - 00165 - A freeze on internet recovery or sign in!

Hey guys!

I have an 820 - 00165 - A on hand that represents no physically issues, can't find anything thing that looks out of the ordinary or measurements that don't make sense.

Customer says that it just won't sign in.

When you sign into the account on the Mac it loads all the way, then hangs, and you have to turn it off.

If you remove the hard drive and try internet recovery, it loads all the way, then hangs.

What can I check to see what's happening to shed some light on this one?

Thanks, Max

Sorry should have said that -

Yes I tried to boot from external source, didn’t work either, loading bar gets full and hangs like everything else :/ lol

Then flash new BIOS, clean ME region.
Easy to do, if you have Medusa programmer.
If not, get a clean dump from the forum.

Thanks for the advice.

I don't have Medusa but will get it for the future.

All the files I can find for the 820 -00165 linked in forum aren't available, is there anything else I can do? I can pay for it online, but would prefer not to :/

Update:

I've found a clean dump file.

Now I'm just trying to work out how to do this without Medusa?

All I can find is boot into the EFI using cmd + options + f + o - doesn't do anything though, tried using 0 instead of o incase it was that, but nothing.

I'm a little confused with how I'm meant to get the new file in place of the old one, and can't find anything anywhere on it.

Any "how to flash bios" search results in it's EFI not BIOS, and then when I look into EFI it's all about how to remove EFI locks, nothing about flashing at all. :/

Thanks heaps for your help, really do appreciate it.

Out of curiosity, if I have the same board, can I swap chips rather then program, or is it unique to the board?
