820-00165 - Won't stay off.

If I turn it off in software, it turns back on again two or three seconds later.

Hold the power button down for 10 seconds and it stays off.

Sometimes (but seldom) it won't turn on. SMC_ONOFF_L seems to stay steady during all of this at 3.4v

If I let it boot then close the lid, the fan never stops.

So it seems to never go to sleep, but the display does switch off

Edit: It did sleep. Just took over 5 minutes.

So if the display shuts off, the lid sensor is working so we don't have to look there. My guess is something wrong with U5110 or the SMC. Maybe even a leaking cap on SMC_ONOFF_L somewhere. Did this have liquid? If so, where.

Also, have you tried with a known good trackpad and trackpad cable? That can cause it too sometimes

No liquid damage, just wouldn't turn on. But it was quite dirty.

I haven't tried with a known good TP and KB, will disconnect them for now.

It actually doesn't sleep when I shut the lid. It spins for awhile then turns off completely.

Disconnect the trackpad and hit the power pads and shut it down from software. Does it do the same thing?

Doesn't seem to turn back on with the trackpad and keyboard disconnected.

But it won't sleep still. Will investigate the behaviour a little further quickly.

SMC LID voltage is changing when you open and close the lid right? Maybe something in settings telling it not to sleep when the lid is closed?

Nevermind, nothing in settings that would cause that..
