Was a slight water damage board on magsafe side. Had to replace the magesafe and flat cable. the air turns on with green/orange light, but does not find battery in the os. where do i start with this?

PPBUS voltage without battery? Diode mode on both battery data lines? I assume you tried a known good battery?

Bad ISL6259 or SMC.

PPBUS on 8.17 means SMC is not helping on regulation.. This could be a bad ISL6259 and/or bad SMC, those diode mode readings seems wrong, remember, red probe to ground black probe to teh test point, DMM set in diode mode..

okay. reflowed smc and now have ppbus at 8.58v

when os is booted up, the battery icon disappears and when you unplug magsafe it goes to sleep, not automatically powering off.

this is whats happening. the battery icon will not display on top bar. it says 0% and when you click on show battery in menu bar it goes away right away. also if you unplug the charger it goes to sleep. here is link

Go to About this mac----> System information---> Power, what says about battery there???

If that's the original battery, that battery is totally fucked. Is that your tester or no?

It is still not properly recognizing the battery. Could be bad battery or still SMC problem. If there was corrosion around battery connector there could also be crap under the connector.
Sleeping issue is probably IO board and/or flex cable, the usual.
