820-00426 not booting with trackpad attached

person dropped baby milk on the side of the MacBook, only the battery was affected. The logic board looked brand new. It works fine, but won’t boot up if trackpad is connected. Keeps going in a loop. Tried It on a working top case


Edit: it only boots sometimes. Even with the trackpad disconnected it’s still looping

I have no idea with the newer stuff. I've only seen a handful and there are no schematics. Inspect the touchpad connector.

Touchpad connector looks perfect. Even with the trackpad disconnected it boots when it wants to.

Really worried about this since it’s a high specd machine

The board looks brand new so pop it in a clean case and send it to Apple.

I don’t ever come accross these 15”s, this one is out of warrenty.

I’m currently trying to run it directly off the power supply, there’s no battery inside, I think that’s the problem.

a1618 battery’s for this 2015 model are rare in uk, will a 2014 battery work?

I have no idea as I have no experience with these. You should at least run it off a 87W charger, not a 61W.

Yes, got a new battery today and it seems to work absolutely fine.

Looks like the 15” 2013-2015 need a battery connected for it to work.
