Quick question,

would a A1494 battery (made for 2014 a1398) work on a a1398 2015 Retina.

I ordered a A1494 battery instead of A1618 (couldn’t find any in the uk) one and it works absolutely fine, just want to make sure it’s safe

No idea, isn't the area around the trackpad slightly different?

I’ve always been using A1494 and A1493 instead of A1618 and A1582 without any issues.

Is is there any reason why the sellers make it perfectly clear and warn you not to purchase it for a 2015 model?

I don’t know. They have slightly different power ratings. So officially they are not interchangeable. I just haven’t had any issues doing it and I’ve had zero customers complaining about the battery life/issues after getting this swap. But who knows. Maybe there can be some rare issues associated whit this.

I think it should be alright as long as it fits in the case. The battery will communicate about its needs to the SMC and most importantly the ISL so I don't see any reason why they won't be interchangeable
