I have an A1706 (2017) MacBook Pro (touch bar) with the following issue: with the battery disconnected, it starts up and works fine. With the battery connected, it produces kernel panics, usually before it finishes start up. No liquid damage that I can see. I tried NVRAM, SMC reset, and starting from an external SSD.

You should get a known good working battery for test.

Start in diagnostic mode, maybe get some information.

It was advertised as "authentic Apple", but I have my doubts. Do you have a suggestion for buying a good OEM battery for this model?

The machine now started kernel-panicking even with the battery unplugged. Report attached. Worth going to a good BIOS or suspect bad CPU?Screen Shot 2021-04-15 at 8.57.37 PM.png
