820-01987 freeze and reboot when charger connected.

Cant find any liquid damage on the board.

When charger connected to it freeze and restarts with Kernel Panic.
Sometimes it charge battery without any reason but when cable is removed got blanks screen and restart with kernel panic.

Tested with two new USB C ports and with two 96W original Apple chargers (96W) and cables.

Client left his charger and USB C cable and his cable is not working - charger is fine.
Looks like cable did some damage to the board?

Any idea where to start?

Save data and do DFU restore.

Data saved but no luck with restore.
Looks like restore passed but there is quarter fan spin, backlight on display (no data) and reboot every 20-30 seconds.
board is fitted in the device and even with lid closed CPU is warm and on thermal camera looks like it is in boot loop.

Macbooks boot with lid closed too.

So now it doesn't enter Internet Recovery mode?
Don't get image at all?
Tested w/ and w/o good battery connected?

I had similar issue with another board and noticed the issue occured whenever the Mac tried to play sound from the speakers. When you connect or disconnect the charger, it makes the charging sound and that sound triggers the computer to kernal panic and reboot. The issue ended up being a bad audio amplifer on the board. Once I found and replaced the IC, everything was fine. I would check for shorts or low diode values on the audio amplifiers.

2informaticos - no internet recovery, no image just backlight. Maybe did not pass that as there was a chime and audio IC was a issue
