so have a macbook pro 13" 2009 A1298. came to me with not booting.

on diagnosing found if i removed the screen the thing would boot and chime. replaced the screen with a known working one and same issue. replaced the backlight driver ic and still the same issue. Now at a loss as what could be causing it. with the screen in you get fan spin and as soon as it starts to chime it turns off along with the fan.

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks.

Do you get external video, when internal lCD is disconnected?
Try to start in SMC bypass and also in safe mode, with LCD connected.

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply.

I dont have a way to connect a display to this externally. i will have to purchase an adapter this week. however i did do the SMC bypass and does the exact same thing just 10 seconds later. also tried safe mode but same issue. so at a loss still unfortunately.

The MCP79 chipset (U1400).
180-200 degrees, for 15-20 seconds.
You don't need to melt the balls, just want an internal reaction.
