Green light on charger, battery is present bot not charging. I'm very new to troubleshooting macbook boards and so far I've just been farting around probing voltages & getting nowhere in boardview. Any suggestions on where to start?

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Remove the battery and start process repair.
Do not connect battery, until get correct PPBUS_G3H voltage.

Check diode mode to ground at L7030.
Post basic voltages for U7000; pins 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 17, 19, 20, 27.
Also check exact resistance between pins 17/18 and 27/28; measured on ohm scale, no power.

U7000 pins 1(6v), 2(16.4v), 3(0v), 6(3.41v), 9(0v), 12(3.47v), 13(3.43v), 14(2.24v), 15(0.06v), 17(1.48v), 19(5.09v), 20(5.09v), 27(0.9v). Between 17/18 (0.03ohm), 27/28(9.6k ohm). For L7030 I'm not sure which pin to check.

You have several problems there; try to fix all.

"3(0v)"
Missing ACIN, very important.

"27/28(9.6k ohm)"
Check R7020/21/22 abd their traces.

"1(6v)
------------
27(0.9v)"
Result of missing ACIN...

R7020(0ohm across?) all traces good, 21(2k, Traces good), 22(6.5k, Also good). voltage on that rail starts at 1.4v but falls slowly to around 0.15v.

Do you correcy get PPBUS_G3H now?
If not, post U7000 voltages again.
Also post actual resistance between pins 27/28.
