After replacing r7978 and getitng the board into an S0 state with fan spin I get no image or chime seems likes its brain dead. Fans will spin fast but nothing happens no image on screen nothing on external either.
Im not too sure on the history. the board wasnt powering on but getting to an s3 state. Replaced the resistor because it was giving a low value compared to known good and that got it to fan spin.
Low value is because you are measuring in-circuit so there was never anything wrong. You can heat up the GPU and see if it lives again. If it still has an original GPU with date code 11/12 this board is a waste of time anyway as it is a ticking time bomb.
not sure if this is normal but u5400,u5410 and u5430 are all outputting around 0.30-0.50v
also vcc of u7400 is only getting 4.97v it should be 5v right?
Old GPU which is going to fail soon if it is not already dead. No Vcore also sucks in general.
4.97 vs 5.00, do you really think that will matter? Do you really think your multimeter/probes etc. will be accurate enough to worry about 0.03V?
Could be bad BIOS/bad CPU/bad PCH/knocked off resistor/anything and next month a dead GPU. Save yourself the headache and forget about this one.
