So I have an 820-2915 that attempts to boot but when the bar gets to like 80% the screen goes blank, like just the apple logo and bar disappear. Every once in like 20 tries will it actually boot.
I think I know the answer. I found an older forum post that said the GPU is dying... My question is, is the GPU the last thing that gets initialized by the BIOS?
Active graphics is configured into NVRAM, in BIOS chip.
Nowadays impossible to find real new chip for that.
You should consider disabling discrete GPU and use only iGPU.
There are few ways to do that...
