820-2936 - Weird behavior

I was able to successfully install El Capitan, but when I try upgrading to macOS Sierra, I get a forbidden symbol and the installation doesn’t proceed.


I also attempted to install High Sierra using a USB stick, but the installation either fails or takes an unusually long time.


It seems the installation is running very slowly for some reason. (Maybe there is something on the USB I think) But when on El Capitan it didn't seem to have the full throttle issue.


I checked the main resistors related to the full throttle issue—R5301, R5302, R5311, and R5312—and they all read correctly at 100K.


Since the board powers on and allows me to install El Capitan, I’m unsure what the root issue could be.


I’d really appreciate some guidance, as I need to get this board working properly.

I also tried using an external USB-to-SATA adapter, but it didn’t work.


Should this method work, or is it only possible using the internal HDD cable?


I don’t have the internal cable at the moment, but I’ll buy one if the USB-to-SATA setup isn’t compatible. However, if it should work, then there’s likely something wrong with the machine.
