Boot Windows, or Linux Live and see what happens with image.
Possibly iGPU problem, when graphics driver is loaded.

Did PRAM reset?

Yes, it also happens on linux, PRAM reset had no effect.

Do you get the same issue on external monitor?

External monitor works fine (also works fine on the laptop screen when connected)
