OK... I'll Pray around... Just a few questions first...
1. This is most likely not something I can do with a hot air station. Is there a decent BGA rework station available that you can recommend to carry this out?
2. The chips I'm finding online are from China and cost 11 bucks. Are these viable chips?
3. Do you have an idea of what is actually causing the damage to the LCD's? Its making me absolutely crazy.
There is probably no damage to the LCD unless you short out the backlight output to that line with the LCD connected. That could kill the PCH and/or the LCD.
Unless you want to do more BGA rework, spending $1000 on a rework station for just this board makes no sense. Also need to practice first as it is a bit of an art.
Farm this out to soneone who does BGA rework. Let them provide the chip. Ive had good results in buying PCH chips. But you'll struggle to make your BGA rework machine pay.
Thanks for the response. Though I am definitely interested in doing BGA rework in the future if there is money in it and it becomes more demanding for me I will take your advice and practice with my hot air station. (crawl before you walk type thing)Thanks again Duke. Have a good one.
PS. $1000 for good working station. (more info if you get a chance)
"Gurmon" just saw your response after I posted response. Thank You for your help. To pay someone to do it wouldn't be in my best interest for this board I don't think. Thanks man.
