820-3115 that's got me stumped.

Hey Duke, yes SMC_RESET_L is 3.42v, stable.

Also, I wanted to add: I found no shorts anywhere on the board, across all main power rails.

G2_EN not being stable can indicate another SMC failure or S5_PWRGD going low. S5_PWRGD going low could be caused by a short on the 3V3_S3/S0 bus. Possible TPS51125 issue....

But PPBUS going to 12.23V would indicate a total reset/crash of the SMC. Is the battery indicator working when a charged battery is connected?

Hey Duke, yeah battery indicator works normally with battery connected. I'm going to swap out u7200 real quick and see if that has any affect on anything.

Edit: UPDATE on this post--the battery level indicator literally worked 1 time, and now it does not work when a charged battery is connected. I wanted to check if the board charged a battery, and when I plug in the charger, the BIL illuminates, but it does NOT respond to being pressed. This is definitely looking like a case of the SMC being in a wrong mode.

Swapped out U7200 and no change.

I thought for sure it was the SMC originally, and I pulled it from a board with liquid-damage to the reverse IO area. I imagine it could always be bad, too, but it would be peculiar it's giving the exact same behavior as the original one (instead of being bad in some other way, etc).

Would you suggest I try replacing the SMC again?

I just updated the above post; the BIL worked one single time (the first time I plugged in a battery--immediately before writing the post), but now it won't work until the charger is connected. It lights up when charger is connected/disconnected, but does not work when the button is pressed. Charger also never turns orange with a half-charged battery.

Yeah, I'm going to check everything well in the morning and may pull the SMC again. 3v42 looked fine everywhere, and U5010 was doing it's job (replaced it again to be sure). I'll update once I've done all that--thanks for your help with this, Duke.

The green light flickering still suggest an issue with the SMC. I really have no idea, inspect for corrosion or damage around SMC area. Regardless of the PCH it should charge a battery.

Thanks, Duke. I'm giving up on this one. SMC area looks flawless, and I've replaced the SMC three times. Not worth the time anymore. I appreciate your help on it! Thanks.
